David Moyes has had a difficult start to his life as Manchester United manager, but for fans clamoring for the return of Sir Alex Ferguson, they probably shouldn’t hold out hope.

In an interview with American television network PBS, the former Man United boss who lead the team to many years of glory reiterated his desire to stay retired, backing Moyes in his current role as well as revealing that Chelsea once tried to lure him to Stamford Bridge to manage their club.

“I’m not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United’s results,” Ferguson said on the Charlie Rose show on PBS, as transcribed by the Daily Mail. “You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager. I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I’ve got a new life.

On the Chelsea matter, Ferguson said, “They used an agent to approach me when (Roman) Abramovich first took over the club, and I said no chance. I always come back to this point – why would you leave (Man United)?”

Ferguson retired from management last May after 26 years in charge of Man United, winning 38 trophies during his reign that saw him become one of the and most feared and unrivaled managers around the globe.

TORRES TO HAVE SCAN ON INJURED KNEE

Three days after being sent off in Chelsea’s London derby against Tottenham on Saturday, Fernando Torres was handed another blow when he went off injured after just 11 minutes in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Steaua Bucharest.

Chelsea’s doctors have scheduled Torres for scans on his left knee on Wednesday, with the initial diagnosis looking not as serious as Marco Van Ginkel, who tore his ACL and is essentially out for the rest of the season as he looks to recover.

“The doctor is very confident it is not a big injury like we had with Marco van Ginkel,” Jose Mourinho told the Guardian after the match. “But it’s something with his knee, his ligaments, and we have to wait for the scans. He knew he wouldn’t play against Norwich and now he knows he cannot go away with the national team.”

The Spaniard had finally been looking like he was in good physical condition and in better form for Chelsea as of late but now he is sure to miss the next two weeks, including a pair of Spanish National Team World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Georgia.

BALE TO MISS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCH

Gareth Bale’s lack of a preseason has come back to bite him again.

On Tuesday, Bale was not seen on the Real Madrid training ground ahead of their match ahead of their Champions League match on Wednesday with FC Copenhagen, with the club later in the evening stating that Bale is suffering again from a thigh strain and would take no part in the mid-week match.

The Welshman has made just three appearances since joining Real Madrid on August 30, scoring a goal in his La Liga debut but missing a considerable amount of time while on Wales National Team duty and due to the thigh injury, which has likely come around because he’s not yet fully fit.
