MLS Week 33: Your Running Commentary

MLSLogo2013

A quintet of MLS matches fill the league schedule tonight, and every one carries some playoff implications.

The Seattle Sounders are in the chase for the Supporters Shield, and take on a tough Colorado Rapids team looking to secure their own place in the MLS Western Conference playoffs (10pm, NBC Sports). The Sounders will be without Clint Dempsey, but should still have enough firepower to test a Rapids side coming off a bye week.

At Red Bull Arena, the Red Bulls take on a desperate New England Revolution side in a key Eastern Conference clash (7pm, MLS Live). The Red Bulls can hold on to the top spot in the Supporters Shield race with a win, while the Revs are in dire need of a win to stay in the race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

In Columbus, the red-hot Crew look to keep their strong run of form going against a Sporting KC side that suddenly finds itself feeling pressure from Houston for the No. 2 seed in the East (7:30pm, MLS Live). Columbus can climb into playoff position with a victory.

The Philadelphia Union need a victory tonight vs. Toronto FC (7:30pm, MLS Live) to regain their hold on fifth place in the East. Last week’s surprise win at Sporting KC should provide some momentum against a TFC side that hasn’t offered much resistance against good teams.

At Rio Tinto Stadium, Real Salt Lake will look to put the disappointment of losing in the U.S. Open Cup Final behind them when they face a reeling FC Dallas (9pm, MLS Live).

  1. Eddie Johnson loses it and throws a disgusting elbow to browns neck off the ball. Referee missed it entirely.

God I am really starting to dislike EJ.

  2. Seattle clearly tanking to eliminate any chance of facing the Quakes in the playoffs…so transparent, shameful pseudo D.

All that’s left to watch is Yedlin overlapping and going up against Klute.

    • Me too. Who do US soccer fans hate most? Mexico. What is the most Mexican team (based on requirements to only play for Mexico)? Chivas. As long as they continue to play under the Chivas name, they will continue to be the most hated and lowest attended team in MLS
