Rapid Vienna were once again unable to pick up an important first win in the UEFA Europa League group stage, but it was through no real fault of Terrence Boyd.

Boyd scored a brace for Rapid Vienna at home on Thursday night, but the Austrian club was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw with KRC Genk. The U.S. Men’s National Team striker headed in both of his goals in the final five minutes of the first half to give Vienna a 2-1 lead, but Genk found an equalizer in the second half to prevent Boyd from being the hero.

The 22-year-old striker now has 10 goals across all competitions this season.

The result leaves Vienna in third place in Group G of the Europa League with just three points from four games (0-1-3). Vienna visit Grodig on Sunday in a league match.

  1. Johnson is still in the game, but Altidore, Johannson, and Boyd are our future. Seven years ago we could only dream of having such depth and talent.

  2. Boyd is a very exciting player. He showed in the Panama game that he is capable of supporting a target striker (the AJ assist). That shows some forward flexibility that could get him some minutes.

  3. He still has Johannsson, Johnson and Altidore ahead of him. Since Johnson and Johannsson bring unique qualities to the team, speed and technical ability, he would have to beat out Altidore or convince Klinsmann that Dempsey is a wide midfielder.

  4. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that guy score with his feet. On another note though I would like to see him get a decent run out in the upcoming friendlies, I thought he looked much more composed in those 10 mins he got against panama

  5. We’re into the Cup. Jozy’s shown he is still performing for the Nats even if his Sunderland situation is less than ideal.

Give Boyd a half, at least. C’mon Klinsi. He looked good against Panama. And, excepting maybe 1 or 2 lackluster appearances (out of 11), he’s looked decent to good in all of them.
