Americans Abroad: Weekend Preview

Michael Bradley AS Roma (Disney World)

By FRANCO PANIZO

Michael Bradley and AS Roma have yet to taste defeat in Serie A play this year, and they will need as close to a complete performance as possible in order to keep that from changing during the next round of matches.

Roma and AC Milan will square off on Monday in one of the more high profile games of the next few days, and a win would keep them undefeated through 16 fixtures. A victory at San Siro combined with a Juventus loss would pull Roma level on points with the league leaders, but a win against a talented-but-struggling Milan side is anything but a given regardless of how well Bradley and the rest of the Giallorossi have performed in recent weeks.

Another marquee tilt will take place in England on Sunday, as Brad Guzan and Aston Villa host Manchester United. The Villans are looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat against Fulham, and likely will need a strong showing in goal from Guzan in order to have a shot at pulling out a result.

Wondering what other game might be worth watching? Look no further than Hannover’s clash with Nurnberg. The match might not only provide a glimpse of a battle of U.S. Men’s National Team pool right backs in Timmy Chandler and Steve Cherundolo, but it could also mark the latter’s much-awaited return to Hannover’s starting lineup.
