Steve Cherundolo and Brek Shea made some waves this weekend when both made their season debuts for their respective clubs, and that topic serves as the lead subject on the latest episode of The SBI Show.

Episode 96 of The SBI Show takes a closer look at Cherundolo and Shea’s returns to league action, and what it could mean going forward. We also discuss Jozy Altidore’s worsening situation at Sunderland, and whether a winter move away from the Black Cats is a realistic option.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss the NCAA Tournament, which saw the field whittle down to eight on Sunday, with some surprising results.

  1. I don’t think Klinsmann thinks that he’s the first one that started to tell MLS/American players to go on training stints during the offseason. He did start the move that his national team players should go on loan to a top league in Europe during the offseason, if the opportunity comes for any of his players.

  2. agree about dempsey

not sure how a handful of games in england over winter helps dempsey be better prepared for bazil

get some rest (november/december), get conditioned (jan. camp) and get into preseason with your team (feb.) so you can find a rhythm at the beginning of season (march)

dempsey to EPL for a couple months? why? been there, done that… and you only increase the odds that you struggle to find a rhythm in seattle in the spring
