Marcus Hahnemann will be sticking around his hometown club.

The Seattle Sounders announced on Wednesday that they have re-signed Hahnemann, the veteran goalkeeper who originally hails from Seattle and has spent the past two seasons with the club. The 41-year-old Hahnemann joins fellow goalkeepers Josh Ford and Stefan Frei on the Sounders’ roster.

“We are looking forward to having Marcus back in a Sounders FC uniform,” said Sounders FC sporting director Chris Henderson in a prepared statement. “He will continue to add veteran leadership and has proven to be solid between the posts. Marcus has had a fantastic career for club and country and we are proud he will be staying with his hometown team.”

Hahnemann played in four regular season matches for Seattle in 2013, compiling a 2-2 record while posting one shutout and making six saves. HeĀ also started the first leg of the Western Conference semifinals against the Portland Timbers after regular Michael Gspurning struggled.

What do you think of the Sounders re-signing Hahnemann? Happy to see the club keep one of its hometown heroes?
