Richie Williams has invited 28 youngsters to the 2014 spring semester of the U.S. Under-17 Residency Program, and the majority of them are returning players.
Twenty-one players familiar with the residency program in Bradenton, Fla. have been summoned again by Williams for the spring semester roster, and they are joined by new additions McKenzie Gaines, Eric Matzelevich, AJ Palazzolo, Raheem Taylor-Parkes and Jaret Townsend as well as U-15 Boys’ National Team midfielder Jose Carranza and goalkeeper Eric Lopez.
Fifteen of the 28 were part of the U.S. U-17 side that recently finished in first place at the Nike International Friendlies in December, including tournament MVP Christian Pulisic, Golden Boot winner Haji Wright and Golden Glove winner Kevin Silva.
“We are very excited about the group of players that we brought in this semester,” said Williams. “We feel very confident in this group that will provide us with 20 players to go on to (2015) World Cup qualifying and hopefully through a successful World Cup qualifying campaign to lead us to next year’s World Cup.”
In total, the players represent 22 U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs. FC Dallas Academy, LA Galaxy Academy, Players Development Academy and St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri lead the way with two players apiece.

ABMOD!
old school
Does anyone know why a larger majority of these kids are not in MLS academies?
Location. Many aren’t close to a MLS Club, but their teams are part of the PDA structure (Scott Gallagher, Chicago Magic & Wolves) have been part of the PDA since my playing days in the 80’s…..Good coaches and training programs.
Interesting to note. Thanks.
There are lots of good PDAs, Josh — even around DC, DCU’s academy faces stiff competition, especially from the Baltimore Bays Chelsea, but also the Bethesda-Olney Rangers program, where Matzelevich has been playing.
John Nelson and the Internationals! Quality is Quality
Isn’t Raheem Taylor-Parkes Toronto FC Academy?
Dude is all over the place. I though he actually committed to Canada a while back.
Weston McKennie of FC Dallas is legit, small African American kid and quick as can be. Played up on FC Dallas 97 team and was one of their better players. Good addition to any squad!
Ah, the old Richie Williams photo is back!
+2
+3 funny!
Two kids named Pulisic, but one is from Pennsylvania and the other from Virginia? Cousins?
Yep, I had the same question, and here is the official report from the Interwebs: http://highschoolsports.pennlive.com/news/article/5808945083468329746/christian-pulisic-of-hershey-accepts-invite-to-us-u-17-residency-program-will-be-the-youngest-player-involved/
Yes.
And those two are frickin amazing! Lit it up at the last tourney in Florida along with Wright. If you get a chance to watch these kids okay take it, gives you some pride in our youth system!
