FC Dallas have traveled all the way to Abu Dhabi for pre-season, and opened their camp with a 3-0 victory against Swedish side BK Hacken.

Goals from Fabian Castillo, Blas Perez and Ryan Hollingshead provided the difference, while goalkeepers Richard Sanchez and Chris Seitz recorded the shutout.

Here are the match highlights.

Here are some more MLS preseason results from the past few days:

SOUNDERS EDGE WHITECAPS

The Seattle Sounders were able to pick up a preseason victory over rivals Vancouver, 2-1, on Thursday behind goals from Fabio Pereira and Kevin Parsemain.

The Sounders were able to open the scoring early in the game, as Pereira, the final pick in this year’s SuperDraft, was able to give his side the lead just eight minutes into the contest.

Martinique international Parsemain, who is on trial with the club, was able to find the back of the net just nine minutes later on an assist from second-year defender Dylan Remick, who picked up his second assist in as many games.

Vancouver’s goal came in the form of an Erik Hurtado half-volley. The 23-year-old was able to find the corner on a bouncing ball from just outside the box, but Seattle was able to hold on and preserve the victory.

REVS TOP STRIKERS

The New England Revolution were able to escape with a 2-1 victory vs. the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers down in Bradenton, Fla. behind a stoppage time Darrius Barnes winner on Thursday.

Barnes was able to put his team ahead just before the final whistle, as he was able to slot home from an A.J. Soares pass during a corner scrum.

The Revs had to overcome an early 1-0 deficit, but found an equalizer in the 34th on a Dimitry Imbongo score. Imbongo was able to convert a long throw in from O’Brian Woodbine, paving the way for Barnes’ winner.

The Revs victory concluded their preseason trip to Florida, as the team will now move back to Foxborough before heading out to Arizona to conclude the preseason.

SPORTING KC BEAT INDY ELEVEN

Reigning MLS Cup champion Sporting Kansas City defeated NASL expansion side Indy Eleven, 3-1, in Tuscon, Arizona on Friday.

Regular contributors Claudio Bieler, CJ Sapong and Sal Zizzo were the goalscorers, as Kansas City were able to overcome a horrid start.

The MLS side allowed a first minute goal to their NASL opponents, who is managed by ex-USMNT goalkeeper  Juergen Sommer.

Besler, Oriol Rosell, Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi all got their first action of the preseason in the win.

  1. Ives, it would be very helpful for MLS fantasy managers if you would print preseason box scores for MLS games. It helps us to see who is getting playing time, especially for those lesser-known guys that often are bargain picks. Thank you.

  2. I am glad Claudio Bieler is back for Sporting. I’m not sure why he wasn’t played more toward the end of last season. It’s hard to argue with Vermes when he won MLS Cup, but it seemed really strange because he was great in the first half of the last season.

    • Did you watch anything past the first 10 games? He looked great then but really lost his effectiveness for the last two-thirds of the season. Came out with something to prove as a sub and maybe got his spot back

    • Honestly, I’d rather have him working at Christian orphenages in Haiti.
I think he would be happier and his work would be much more needed.
FC Dallas can find another backup.

      • Oh. Okay.

I prefer that secular organizations such as Doctors without Borders, American Red Cross, Partners in Health, ActionAid International, International Relief Teams, AmeriCares, and Direct Relief International continue to carry on the bulk of international aid.

      • Actually, I would refuse all charity for myself. I believe that there is nothing wrong with helping others, and it should be done in worthy circumstances. But the idea that charity is a moral duty and a primary virtue is damaging. It is actually one section of philosophical space where I agree with the objectivists.

True altruism can only happen at the expense of the giver’s own self-esteem. This makes evolutionary sense in the case of relatives.

Take the geneticist JBS Haldane, one of the fathers of modern evolutionary thought: “I’d gladly give my life for three of my brothers, five of my nephews, nine of my cousins….”

These all make mathematical sense when you consider the sum of all genes shared by common decent (identity by decent, or pedigree) by these individuals.

In the case of complete strangers with little or no shared family history, objectivists argue that it requires a lack of self-importance (pathos).

  3. Wait all these winners in the preseason and the red bulls loose to ??? Not a euro team or an mls or a second division or a third division team but a college team. And the coach seemed okay. MLS seems to have a lot of upgrades. There is a lot to be excited for as an mls fan. looking foward to a great mls season not so ecxited for red bulls though!

  4. So if they get reds does the Indy name change to X and then IX and so forth or do we say “the XI is down to X?” I don’t understand how you have a team in the home of American open wheel and ignore it in the name. This is a rare instance when something Eurotrash like Racing would have been perfect.

The Dallas victory proves our inherent superiority to all things European, or perhaps nothing at all.

    • If you say, but the racing history is referenced visually in the Crest, I will whack you over the head with the eponymous toothpaste tube.

      • Rumor around Indy is that the Indy Racing League suggested their lawyers might not think it was a good idea for a soccer team name that used any variation of Indy and racing together.

    • As you can see from my name I’m of the belief that league should be uniquely American. However, there are few instances where borrowing European names are acceptable. This would be one of those times. Also, DC United.
