When Juventus and Inter Milan meet this Sunday, there will be much more than just points in Serie A on the line.

Though the rivalry between the two northern Italian clubs is usually intense, the transfer discussions between the clubs flared up some sore wounds, with Inter fans protesting a possible deal that would have sent midfielder Fredy Guarin to Turin and forward Mirko Vucinic in the other direction. While the deal was called off at the 11th hour by Inter owner Erick Thohir, you can be sure that both side’s fans are going to be hoping for a win on Sunday to prove whether the decision was a good one.

For a real derby match this weekend though, look no farther than St. James Park in Newcastle for the Tyne-Wear derby between Newcastle and Sunderland.

The Black Cats have won two of their last three games and sit outside the relegation zone for the first time since early in the season. Newcastle meanwhile will have to find a replacement on the fly for midfielder Yohan Cabaye, who was sold on Wednesday to Paris Saint-Germain.

Other matches to watch this weekend include Real Madrid’s trip to the beautiful new San Mames stadium to face Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona facing nearby rival Valencia, and Tigres UANL vs. Monterrey in the Clasico Regiomontano in Mexico.

  1. Jozy gets the nod over Fletcher again despite starting midweek. Seems he’s surged ahead of Fletcher in the pecking order for now. He needs a good effort today to stay there with Scocco potentially challenging him as well.
