A pair of penalties from Cristiano Ronaldo were enough to seal the deal against Atletico Madrid in the Copa Del Rey semifinals, as Real Madrid were able to eliminate their rivals 5-0 on aggregate.

Ronaldo’s goals were the only scores on the day, but they proved to be more than enough for the reigning La Liga champions. Real Madrid exacted a bit of revenge from last season’s Copa final, as Atletico topped their heavily favored rivals 2-1.

However, the afternoon was not all fun and games for Ronaldo. The Portuguese star was hit by a lighter thrown from the stands, which forced him to spend time on the sidelines for examination.

With the win, Real Madrid advances to face either bitter rivals and league leaders Barcelona or sixth place Real Sociedad in the Copa Del Rey finals in April.

Liverpool could also move within four points of the top spot depending on results of those above them.

Comments

    • Did you watch it? The first was a clumsy tackle 5 minutes in. Defender is dumb. Contact was clear but maybe a bit soft. The second was a clear cut PK. 5-0 aggregate, nothing fishy about it.

  1. Also in that Chelsea game, Luiz was extremely lucky to not give away a penalty, I though it should have been. It was shortly before the goal was actually scored by WBA
