The Houston Dynamo and Philadelpha Union have been two of the bigger surprises of the early part of the 2014 MLS season and two of the key figures behind their good starts are Will Bruin and Amobi Okugo.

Bruin has scored a league-leading three goals in two matches for the 2-0 Dynamo, while Okugo has helped the Union defense surrender just one goal in two matches in a 1-0-1 start. Both Bruin and Okugo are guests on the latest episode of The SBI Show, discussing the strong starts their teams are enjoying, their own impressive form, and their national team aspirations.

Episode 123 of The SBI Show also takes a closer look at MLS Week 2, as we break down all of the past weekend’s matches.

We also discuss Americans Abroad, the U.S. Men’s National Team’s friendly against Czech Republic, and more.

  1. Jones’ move to Besiktas was a good one since it looks like they will get a Champions League qualifier spot. I don’t think Castillo is in the doghouse because Farias likes to keep the lineup fresh and he just went 90 against Puebla. Also assuming JK is the coach for the Czech Replubic friendly? JK will be the U.S. MNT coach until after the 2018 WC.

    • There was only one phone sound, which was a ringing phone (yes, I’m guilty this time of forgetting to put my phone on vibrate). The rest are Skype sounds (we use Skype). When we actually have a studio show we’ll cut out all the random noises. For now you’re going to find a way to live through it.

    • It doesn’t bother me at all personally, but yeah, there’s one iPhone sound per podcast, and I imagine someone scrambling to put it on vibrate each time. I typically think, “oh right, it was about time for that” very briefly and then move on with life.
