Graham Zusi is providing Sporting Kansas City with MVP-worthy performances early in the 2014 MLS season.

The 26-year-old midfielder scored one goal and assisted on two others as Sporting KC came back from a one-goal deficit to defeat the Colorado Rapids, 3-2. Zusi’s performance earned him SBI MLS Player of the Week honors for the first time this season.

Zusi beat out a strong list of candidates including FC Dallas playmaker Mauro Diaz, Real Salt Lake attacking midfielder Javier Morales and Vancouver midfielder Pedro Morales among others.

What did you think of Zusi’s performance? Which player impressed you the most in Week 4?

  1. ZUSI should be in Italy or France.

any chance it happens this summer? He’s 27 and has NT experience and probably will start in Brazil and he isn’t all that expensive. 500 K a season will probably do it for him.
I admire MLS for trying to advance and progress the league but our best players should be earning their stripes in Europe. Zusi is 1. He could easily be making 1 million a a club like West Ham or Norwich.

    • I would imagine if a decent offer comes he is gone and part of the reason he hasnt is because he wants to make sure he is playing so he can ensure his spot on the national team.

Also, dont forget that Zusi wasnt some wonderkid, he was developed by Vermes and didnt really any stock until he was 25.

He is currently making more than his roster hit with retention funds being used to pay it down, but no, he isnt MB90 making double what he could be making in Europe, or Dempsey for that matter, both players who were overpaid to come back to MLS.

  2. Zusi is not bad, but still not as good as Julian Green, who will be starting in Brazil with Zeus warming the bench. Just you wait and see. And if you don’t believe me, I will bet you. Yes, I will bet you. Pleez. Come on. Bet me. Just one time. Bet me. Bet me. Bet me. Bet me bet me bet me bet me…

Dang. I think I’m losing my mind.

  3. I was at the game. Talk about a heart breaker. 0-0 at half, then up 2-1, then lose in stoppage time. ugh!
On a positive note. It was my girlfriends first ever soccer game. She said it was more fun then she had expected.
