Harrison Shipp must be getting used to this sort of thing.

Shipp found the head of Jhon Kennedy Hurtado on a corner in Saturday’s draw with DC United, making it the second week in a row the Chicago Fire have scored from Shipp’s corner service. The Notre Dame product now finds himself tied for the league lead in assists with two in the first three weeks of his rookie campaign.

It was another game and another assist for the 22-year-0ld, earning the Fire forward back-to-back status as SBI MLS Rookie of the week.

Shipp beat out Montreal defender Eric Miller and Chivas USA midfielder Tommy McNamara for this week’s honors.

What did you think of Shipp’s performance against D.C. United? Which rookie impressed you the most this week?

  1. He was impressive. Worked hard covering a lot of ground. Showed great vision and service. Looks like a good homegrown product for the Fire.
