By CAITLIN MURRAY

With a hat trick in one game and an equalizer in the next, it seems Bradley Wright-Phillips is ready to quiet critics who said he wasn’t scoring enough for the New York Red Bulls.

Wright-Phillips came up big for four goals in two games in Week 8, carrying the New York Red Bulls to a 4-0 thrashing of the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday on a hat trick and a 1-1 draw to Columbus Crew on Saturday. His exploits earned him SBI MLS Player of the Week honors for Week Eight.

The English-born striker became the first Englishman to net a hat-trick in MLS history in the victory against the Dynamo, then added to his strong week with a quality equalizer against the Crew.

Wright-Phillips beat out a strong list of contenders for this week’s honor which includes Clint Dempsey and Fabian Espindola.

What did you think of Wright-Phillips’ performance? Which player impressed you the most in Week 8?

  1. Good week for Wright Phillips. Dempsey was deserving as well. He and the Sounders CLOWNED the Rapids. If you havent seen the highlights, you may want to check them out. Seattle busting out their form of tiki-taka

    • Shouldn’t BWP’s stats be prorated over the two games or only one of his games gets to be considered? I’d take Dempseys game over either BWP’s game. He had some easy finishes for his hat trick whereas Dempsey was creating goals.
