SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: Harrison Shipp

It was just another week and another assist for Chicago Fire rookie Harrison Shipp.

Shipp showed off his playmaking abilities once again in the Fire’s 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution by setting up the Fire’s lone goal. The Notre Dame product’s third assist in six games helped him earn SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors yet again.

The honor marks the fourth time in five weeks that Shipp has been named SBI MLS Rookie of the Week.

Shipp beat out San Jose’s J.J. Koval and Colorado’s Jared Watts for this week’s award.

What did you think of Shipp’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you in MLS Week Seven?

For this season, let’s just rename this award: The SBI MLS Harrison Shipp of the Week

That pass he made for the goal was perfectly weighted and he didn’t have much time to think about it either. Nice one.

Shipp goes to show that if you have talent, play college ball, play PDL summer league, and train with MLS team a player can develop (while staying in college)

  • MLSsnob

He’s a good young player, too bad he’ll be wasting away on a mediocre team.

    • Drew11

He’s 22 and barely a young player by soccer standards. This MLS rookie thing is a joke. Comparing an 18 year old with a 22 year old is apples and oranges.

Was Jared Watts in consideration solely for the fact that he played 90 minutes? He didnt do anything of value during that time. Thankfully we have Shipp who can register an assist and not make the rookie class look bad for the week
