SBI MLS Best XI (Week 10)

Before MLS Week 10 began,  Harrison Shipp, Javier Morales and Diego Fagundez had combined for zero goals this season. By the end of the weekend, the trio had combined for eight goals, and three spots on this week’s SBI MLS Best XI.

Shipp’s hat trick helped topple the New York Red Bulls, while Fagundez’s brace helped New England halt Seattle’s red-hot run. Morales turned in an SBI MLS Player of the Week effort with his three-goal, one-assist outing in Houston.

Vancouver’s 1-0 victory over the Columbus Crew had to be extra sweet for Matias Laba, who was outstanding in the middle of the park against the team that passed on him when offered him last off-season. Gregg Berhalter’s comments about Laba not being anything special might have made it on to a bulletin board because Laba turned in his best game since arriving in MLS.

Here are the rest of the SBI MLS Best XI selections for Week 10:

  1. Ships from around Chicago. Alotta kids around Chicago (and elsewhere) grew up doing the MJ tongue thing whenever they did anything good in sports.

  2. Wasup with Shipp sticking his tongue out every 2 minutes lol.. It sucked that I gave up on Fagundez and benched him this past week smh.

    • I thought Shipp’s celebration after his third goal/hat trick was even stranger…what, is he covering his face cuz he’s so embarrassed he accomplished it?? or is it some new dance in the club i’m not aware of…”The Hide Ya Face” step.

      • At least he didn’t suck his thumb. That is possibly my least favorite sports celebration, and that is saying something, because there are some dreadful ones out there.
