Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins have been grabbing most of the headlines during the Seattle Sounders’ dream start to the 2014 season, but another player has been just as important to the fast start.

Chad Marshall has been a pillar in the back for the Soundres and has been everything Sigi Schmid could have hoped Marshall would be when he signed Marshall away from the Columbus Crew. Marshall’s latest performance, including his game-winning goal, helped him earn a spot on the SBI MLS Best XI for week nine.

There is plenty of Cascadia representation in this week’s Best XI, with young Vancouver Whitecaps speedster Kekuta Manneh joining Chilean playmaker Pedro Morales, while the Portland tandem of Diego Valeri and Futty Danso also made the squad.

Here is the rest of the SBI MLS Best XI for week nine:

  1. I love that Mastroeni switches up and coming LB Chris Klute to RB and all he does is get picked for the SBI MLS Best XI.

    • Agreed. Shame the way that it is going down. Marshall not being a part of the picture and now that he is back and maybe the best candidate it is probably too late ?

      Man, that guy can play.

      • The thing too is he has had several great shots on goal this year. He could actually have had 3 or 4 this year with his two assists. Just a BEAST this year

  3. Dorms! I didn’t know anyone outside of the Revs fanbase (all 8 of us…) noticed how well Andy Dorman has been playing. After a rough transition back from the Scottish Premiere League last year, he’s in great form.

  4. Henry had a sweet assist on RBNY’s goal but otherwise was pretty bad, maybe the worst game I’ve seen him play since joining.

      • Yeah and that would have been a pretty bad result given that Dallas had a ton of injuries and it was 11 v 10 for 80 minutes. Hard to think of any other Red Bulls players who played well.
