One of the top women’s soccer teams in the world will be coming to the United States this summer.

On Monday morning, U.S. Soccer announced that the U.S. Women’s National Team will host France in a pair of friendly matches this June. The first game will take place on June 14 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla., while the second game will be on June 19 at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn.

France, coached by Philippe Bergerôo, are currently ranked fourth in FIFA’s World Rankings. The USWNT has remained in the top spot since March 2008.

The last time these two teams met was in the opener of the 2012 London Olympics, when the U.S. came back from an early 2-0 deficit to win, 4-2. The USWNT own a 13-0-1 record against France.

France is well on their way to qualifying for the 2015 Women’s World Cup, having scored 41 goals in their first six qualification matches, all wins. France are lead by midfielder Gaëtane Thiney, holding midfielder Laura Georges, and defender Wendie Renard.

Tickets for both matches go on sale on May 9.

  1. Will they have a new coach by then? I don’t understand the value of cutting Sermani between China games if you then muddle forward with an interim coach.

  2. Wow, June 19th in Tampa, should be a really fast paced, energetic and exciting game……Not. Aside from not scheduling games in greenhouses, maybe they should be smart and put them in the larger and underfilled NWSL grounds. That way once the locals have made their way out to see the national team they might be enticed back to see the club later.
