The Seattle Sounders’ red-hot unbeaten streak had to cool off eventually, but it’s doubtful anyone thought it would be snuffed out in such spectacular fashion.

The New England Revolution proved their own unbeaten streak wasn’t a fluke and pummeled the Sounders this week, scoring four goals by halftime in an astonishing performance worthy of SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.

The Sounders came into the match riding a five-game unbeaten streak, buoyed by an impressive return to form for Clint Dempsey — but it proved no match for the Revs, who dismantled Seattle handily, 5-0, and moved into first place in their conference.

Diego Fagundez scored a brace with Teal Bunbury and Patrick Mullins scoring one each. The Revs extended their lead in the second half off an own goal by Chad Marshall.

The Revs beat out Real Salt Lake, Chivas USA and Sporting Kansas City for this week’s honors.

What did you think of the Revs’ performance this week? What MLS team impressed you the most in Week 10?

  1. No lie, for about 10-15 minutes of the first half, NE looked like the best team in the world. Killer through balls, crisp one touch passing, clinical finishing.

  2. This team should be fun to watch all summer. Young, fun style of play, not losing many players to WC. MLS Cup is a real possibility…
