Adolfo “Bofo” Bautista joined Chivas USA this past offseason with the hopes of regaining top form. He might still achieve that, but it will not be with the MLS club.

Chivas USA announced Tuesday that they have mutually agreed to part ways with Bautista just four months after he signed with the club. The veteran Mexican striker was expected to help turn around a Chivas USA side that had an awful 2013 campaign, but he was limited to just one start in seven appearances for the Goats this season.

“We want to thank Adolfo Bautista for his dedication, commitment and professionalism during his time with our club,” said Chivas USA head coach Wilmer Cabrera in a statement. “He is a respected leader on and off the field, and we wish him the best of luck in all his endeavors moving forward.”

Bautista’s stint in MLS saw him play just 148 minutes, most of which came as a substitute. His longest outing was in the 4-1 loss to the Houston Dynamo on May 3, when he started and played 45 minutes.

Here are more notes from around MLS:

THOMAS OUT 6-8 WEEKS WITH MUSCLE TEAR

Already having their depth tested aplenty, FC Dallas just saw their injury woes go from bad to worse.

The club announced on Tuesday that midfielder Hendry Thomas is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a muscle tear in his right leg. Thomas sustained the knock in this past Saturday’s 2-1 loss against the San Jose Earthquakes, and had a procedure on Monday to drain fluid from the injury.

Thomas joins FC Dallas’ list of recently-injured players, one that currently includes Mauro Diaz and Kellyn Acosta.

CHARA SIDELINED, PIQUIONNE RELEASED

Diego Chara is set for a brief spell on the sidelines.

Chara underwent surgery to stabilize a fractured third metacarpal in his left hand and will be out of commission for two weeks, the Portland Timbers announced on Tuesday. Chara picked up the knock late in the Timbers’ 1-1 draw with the LA Galaxy this past Sunday.

In his fourth season in Portland, Chara has started each of the club’s 10 games this campaign and scored twice.

Additionally, the Timbers announced that they parted ways with forward Frederic Piquionne. The 35-year-old Piquionne made just three substitute appearances this season.

IMPACT LOAN SMITH TO INDY ELEVEN

Blake Smith is off to Indianapolis.

The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday that they have loaned Smith to NASL outfit Indy Eleven to give the 23-year-old midfielder a better shot at seeing consistent playing time. Smith, a second-year pro, has been limited to just three appearances off the bench this season.

“As we did with Zakaria Messoudi, it will be a good opportunity for Blake to get more playing time,” said Impact head coach Frank Klopas in a statement. “This loan will help him in his development.”

The Impact loaned Messoudi, a 20-year-old midfielder, to the Ottowa Fury in March.

What do you think of Chivas USA and Bautista parting ways? How do you see FC Dallas doing without Thomas? Who should replace Chara in Portland’s lineup?

  1. Get ready for the shit talking. Bautista will make grandiose comments about himself, and denigrate the levle of MLS.

  2. Has anyone found why Saborio stormed into the locker room after being subbed out of the RSL game? No one asked in the post-game, and I didn’t see anything elsewhere. Was he just catching the plane to Costa Rica for national team duties, or having a major temper tantrum at being pulled?
