The last time the Seattle Sounders and FC Dallas met, it was FC Dallas that entered the match looking like the powerhouse team while Seattle was only just starting to heat up. A month later, the Sounders are rolling while FC Dallas is struggling badly.

The Sounders play host to FC Dallas (10pm, MLS Direct Kick) in the marquee match-up of a three-match MLS slate tonight. Clint Dempsey and Obafemi Martins will look to continue their impressive form by torching an FC Dallas defense that will need to step it up to help support an attack missing injured playmaker Mauro Diaz.

The evening’s MLS action kicks off on Houston, with the Dynamo meeting the Columbus Crew at BBVA Compass Stadium (8pm, MLS Direct Kick). Houston comes in off a blowout win against Chivas USA, while the Crew come in off a loss on Sunday to Sporting KC. Columbus will have to cope with the absence of suspended midfielder Will Trapp as they try to contain the Dynamo midfield tandem of Brad Davis and Oscar Boniek Garcia.

The evening’s final MLS match takes place in San Jose, where the Earthquakes will look to beat the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium. Chris Wondolowski is coming off a two-goal match and will want to head into the upcoming U.S. Men’s National Team training camp with some momentum. The Rapids will be without injured midfielder Vicente Sanchez, and could be missing Dillon Powers as they try to record an important road win.

The league’s Canadian teams are also in action in the Canadian Championships, with Toronto FC playing host to the Vancouver Whitecaps and Montreal Impact meeting NASL side FC Edmonton in the first legs of their series.

  1. 3 yellows given by Toledo in the Dallas v Seattle game and they have all been nonsense, all were soft. He has no idea what he is doing

  2. Extremely soft penalty given to Dallas, Evans touches Perez and he falls into a heap in the box. Stay classy Perez

    • They were both looking at the ball and their feet got tangled, that isn’t supposed to be a foul at all. Laughable decision

  3. I think at this point Dom Kinnear would bring on a u-18 player before their DP Alex Lopez. Boy could they use a player in the middle of the field to help in possession….

  4. Davis off after 60min = get rest for another 60 min this weekend + Stanford camp

Also Parkhurst has performed really well tonight especially considering how high their line has been all night. Think he deserves a look in camp as well.

    • ehhhh, seattle/dallas is an awesome good game. seattle attacking in waves with tons of players. down 1-0. gotta love sigi’s willingness to throw guys forward. with players like deuce and oba to hold the ball and be dangerous up top and players like evans and yedlin (highly overrated at the moment) attacking from deep positions, they often create an exciting flow to the game.

i love how mls teams have started to develop identities. it seems like that is happening now that there is actually some history for most of the franchises. it makes games much more interesting to watch.

  5. Houston Dynamo: No fans (unless they are all dressed as orange seats), no chance
FC Dallas: No Diaz, No Chance
And you heard it here first … Wondo goes nuts on Colorado tonight.
