After a rough stretch of games that saw the team earn only two points in eight games, FC Dallas has finally emerged.
FC Dallas picked up an ever-elusive win with a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday at Toyota Stadium, with goals from Andres Escobar, Zach Loyd and Fabian Castillo.
It was the visiting Rapids that actually opened the scoring, with forward Deshorn Brown giving his side the lead with a 25th minute chip over FC Dallas goalkeerper Raul Fernandez. The hosts however answered with a pair of first half scores, as Escobar netted in the 33rd minute before Loyd gave the hosts the lead in first half stoppage time.
The Rapids equalized just seven minutes into the second half, as midfielder Jose Mari powered a header in the six-yard box home of a Dillon Powers corner. However, FC Dallas took the lead once again through Castillo in the 62nd minute, whose superb individual effort saw him dribble through a majority of the Rapids defense before firing past Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin.
FC Dallas will look to carry on the momentum of their first win in over a month with a quick turnaround that sees them head to Portland to take on the Timbers June 11. On the other hand, the Rapids are off until June 17 when they take on Orlando City in the U.S. Open Cup.
