After 10 months and 25 games, Belgium’s Marouane Fellaini finally found the back of the net again in Belgium’s 2-1 victory over Algeria.

After a scoreless campaign with Manchester United, the 26-year-old Belgian netted the equalizing goal in the 70th minute, just five minutes after entering the game as a substitute. Prior to Fellaini’s introduction, the Red Devils looked confused, shellshocked and frustrated, but after, they appeared to be the dominant side everyone thought they could be.

Fellaini’s header restored Belgian faith after 70 minutes of banging their heads against the proverbial Algerian wall. Just 10 minutes after Fellaini restored hopes, fellow substitute Dries Mertens sealed the Belgian victory and all three points from a game that turned out to be much more of a scare that expected.

Fellaini nearly added a third to the Belgian onslaught in the 84th minute when the midfielder got his head onto the end of a Toby Alderweireld cross, but Algerian goalkeeper Rais M’Bolhi made the difficult save to preserve the 2-1 scoreline.

Fellaini’s introduction tilted the game in Belgium’s favor enough to earn him recognition as SBI World Cup Man of the Match ahead of teammates Mertens, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.

What did you think of Fellaini’s performance? Who stood out to you in Belgium’s comeback victory over Algeria?
