SBI MLS Player of the Week: Pedro Morales

Pedro Morales

By TATE STEINLAGE

Pedro Morales gave Whitecaps fans a star-powered effort on a busy afternoon in Vancouver’s 4-3 victory over the Portland Timbers Sunday.

The 29-year-old midfielder converted on two penalty kicks in the first 26 minutes and added two second-half assists in a match that saw both a Whitecaps’ surge and snuff out of the Timbers’s near-comeback.

Morales now has five goals and five assists in 11 games in 2014 for Vancouver, which now sits in fourth place in the MLS Western Conference playoff race with 20 points.

Morales beat out a field of candidates this week that included Deshorn Brown, Jermain Defoe, Conor Casey and Jon Busch.

What did you think of the Chilean’s performance? Who stood out to you most in Week 13?

  1. What antics? Pedro was a puppet master in the midfield pulling the strings. Shushing the TA? sheesh I suppose you didn’t like Will Johnson doing the same in Vancouver.

  2. Guessing this is purely based on the stat line. Morales wasn’t even the best player on the field in that match, let alone in all the matches last week, and his antics were flat-out embarrassing.
