    • Lets not drink the Kool Aid he is solid for MLS, butn at international level he would be a walking red card…he make very reckless challenges that would not be forgiven at a higher level…besides we are saturated with midfielders…we need wingers, RB and LB

      • Let’s not drink the methanol either. “A walking red card”? Pfft! they said that about Jones too. Ozzie is a tireless, smart defensive mid and, at 4 years younger than Beckerman or Jones, he’d be a great addition to the USMNT.

Prediction: Cuba “releases” him in 2020.

      • I’m not sure who you think “they” are, but everyone involved on the US side already asked to have Alonso released but Cuba refused. Becoming a US citizen was the first step. Step two is getting Cuba to release him (because he is cap-tied to their senior team).

That “release” amounts to Cuba stating that they will not ever call him up again. Until then, he is still on their roster in the eyes of FIFA.

You wanna see him play for the USMNT? Talk to your congressional representatives; maybe if we lift our blockade, Cuba will lift theirs. Alonso is only 28-years old.
