Robert Lewandowski is quickly winning over both teammates and coaches at Bayern Munich.

The Polish international, who joined Bayern this summer on a free transfer from rivals Borussia Dortmund, scored three goals in two days as Bayern took home the Telekom Cup, a preseason tournament hosted in Hamburg.

Lewandowski opened his scoring with a cheeky lob against Borussia Mönchengladbach in a game Bayern eventually won on penalty kicks. He then scored twice in the final in a 3-0 rout of VfL Wolfsburg.

“A top player, he has it all,” Bayern head coach Pep Guardiola said after the final against Wolfsburg.

We all know what he can do,” stated Bayern sporting director Matthias Sammer.

The 25-year-old forward for his part believes there’s still room for growth in his game as he acquires match-fitness ahead of the 2014-2015 season.

“That’s not my top form,” Lewandowski said.

Here’s some more stories to kick off your week:

PSG ADVANCING WITH DI MARIA TRANSFER

The future of Angel Di Maria looks more and more likely that it will be away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to reports in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain are finalizing a move to sign Di Maria, and are willing to pay upwards of 80 million euros ($108 million) to Real Madrid, which would make him the most expensive sale in club history. The deal is being held up by financial fair play regulations, as PSG must sell someone to recoup some of the money they plan to spend on Di Maria and have already spent on David Luiz.

Real Madrid’s record sale occurred last season when Arsenal snapped up Mesut Özil for a reported 50 million euros. Di Maria’s move, which is reportedly 70 million euros plus another 10 million euros in add-ons, would blow that one out of the water.

Di Maria is currently on vacation after playing with Argentina at the World Cup and leading them to the final, only to fall short to Germany in extra time.

ATLETI ANNOUNCE GRIEZMANN DEAL

Atletico Madrid have signed one of the brightest young stars in French soccer.

The club announced on Monday that they’ve agreed a transfer fee with Real Sociedad for winger Antoine Griezmann. The deal will be completed as soon as Griezmann passes his physical exam and signs his new contract.

Reports in Spain state that Atletico Madrid will be forking out 30 million euros for the 24-year-old, who starred for France at the 2014 World Cup and was one of the best young players in La Liga with Sociedad. Last season, Griezmann scored 20 goals for Sociedad in all competitions, including La Liga, the Copa Del Rey, and UEFA Champions League.

  1. Does anyone remember how much Real Madrid paid for Ozil and and Di Maria? I know that Mourinho brought in both after 2010 World Cup. Pretty impressive if they got the service of both left footers and made some profit too.

    • Incoming, di Maria = 30 million Euros, Ozil = 15 million Euros. But I think you should also have to factor in replacement cost, inflation, etc. RM bought Rodruguez for 80 million Euros.

      • Bundesliga players are soooo cheap. That league just doesn’t expect money. Clubs throw out more for guys out of League Un.

  2. So they send Rafael home to England from the American junket for a muscle pull??? Rafael should be like, “they have good doctors here, and I was enjoying the vacation.” While sipping a mixed drink poolside.

  3. re: Italian racism..when will they EVER learn..i hope Yedlin is ready to face those challenges with poise grace and dignity..

re: Liverpool: Remy failing his medical is a blessing in disguise..if it is true that Wilfred Bony is available, then they should go after him..he’s the much better player

    • Until players begin taking less money to play in a league (within a society) that doesn’t tolerate ignorant ideology and behavior, racism will never truly be “kicked out”.

    • When Jozy finished 2nd in scoring in the Eredivisie, Bony was the guy that finished ahead of him. Last year Jozy had one goal and Bony had 16 for Swansea. I bet a big team grabs him in the next season or two… That was the path I was wishing Jozy would take! Here’s hoping that this is Jozy’s breakthrough season in the Prem.

    • Good grief, don’t do it Yedlin. Somehow the Sounders will make it work, so Yedlin doesn’t have to leave. There is more money on the way with the new TV contract. Hang in there Yedlin !

There is only one IF ?
IF someone was NOT offended, they are du mber than dirt…

    • Seriously, especially considering Schneiderlein is still likely to be sold… On the positive, they should have about 100 million in transfer fees to work with after selling most of their roster…

  4. Surprised that Guzan has never gotten a look from a major club like Arsenal. He’s a proven EPL keeper who should only get better with more experience.

    • Runs hot and cold IMO. He will make amazing saves and then baffle you. But he has several years in the tank, including a future as the presumptive US #1 perhaps as soon as this coming cycle.

      • Oddly enough this sounds rather like Szczesny. I have never thought much of Szczesny though and due to massive bias I think Guzan is a better keeper.

Mostly I think its because sometimes Szczesny makes really weak plays on the ball or takes too long to make a decision.

Like on that Robben Penalty in the champs league. In the end he didn’t even manage a decent challenge anywhere near the ball. Instead he manages to bump into Robben’s planted foot.
