Benny Feilhaber might not be going to the MLS All-Star Game, but he sure is performing like one of the league’s best players right now.

Feilhaber enjoyed quite a round of action with Sporting Kansas City over the past few days, leading the club to 2-1 victories over the Columbus Crew and LA Galaxy. The veteran midfielder had an assist and a stunning game-winner in a road triumph over the Crew on Wednesday. He followed up that performance up by scoring a beautiful free kick at Sporting Park to set the tone for a win against the Galaxy on Saturday.

His two performances helped him earn the SBI MLS Player of the Week award, edging out Galaxy forward Robbie Keane, D.C. United striker Eddie Johnson and Portland Timbers midfielder Diego Valeri.

What do you think of Feilhaber winning the SBI MLS Player of the Week award? Agree with the selection? Should Feilhaber be going to the MLS All-Star Game?

  1. Benny has always been a far better player than “The General” Michael Bradley, who was termed the “Matt Schaub” of the USMNT, by Bill Simmons (check out the reference.) Don’t know how or why Benny isn’t in the team (perhaps there is a bias against players who don’t buy into “the system” whatever the system is…) I tell you this much if his dad was the coach of the team, he would be ever present. The stats: World Cup 2010 the team was 4 goals for 1 against when Benny was on the field. Check out the video of: US vs Ghana in 2010, while Ricardo Clark took the blame for coughing up he ball in the center circle, which lead to the opening goal, it was Bradley who fed him the ball (right in Ghana’s trap) and then failed to offer himself as option for Clark to get out of the trap. Looking for the creative solution for the US’s attacking woes? The answer has been right in front of everyone’s eyes for years, Benny Feilhaber!
