Sporting KC took care of business this week, both on and off the field.

The current Eastern Conference leaders picked up maximum points this week, extending the team’s unbeaten streak to six games. Sporting KC started with a 2-1 victory over the Columbus Crew midweek before capping things off Saturday with a victory over the LA Galaxy by an identical scoreline.

However, Sporting KC’s biggest pair of victories may not have even come on the field of play, as the team announced Saturday that it had inked U.S. Men’s National Team World Cup representatives Graham Zusi and Matt Besler to contract extensions that will see the pair remain in Kansas City until the next World Cup.

All in all, it was a big week for Sporting KC both on the field and behind the scenes. The pair of streak-extending victories were enough to earn Sporting KC honors as this week’s SBI MLS Team of the Week, beating out the team just behind them in the standings, D.C. United.

    • Yeah, they need to move KC to the West. Not right that their competition’s best team is DC to host MLS Cup, while the other good teams have to play each other to host.

      • SKC’s points per game vs. the West (4-1-2) is better than theirs vs. the East.

Outside of SSFC and Montreal Impact (for opposite reasons) , you have parity when comparing both divisions,
