There’s no better sign that the start of the English Premier League season is just a few weeks away with clubs debuting their new kits.
Both Manchester United and Liverpool released new uniforms on Monday morning, with Man United sporting a home kit adorned with new club sponsor Chevrolet while Liverpool chose to replace last year’s third kits with a new version.
Man United’s home uniform features an all-red jersey with white collars on the neck and arms, as well as one button at the top of the jersey. On the inside of the back collar, there is a message that reads “Youth, Courage, Greatness,” representing the club’s values. The uniform also features white shorts and black socks.
For Liverpool, their new third uniform features a black kit with grey horizontal stripes down the length of the uniform, as well as a sash from the right shoulder down to the left hip featuring contrasting red and black stripes. The kit also has black socks and black shorts.
Both clubs will debut the new kits in the USA. Man United will wear their kits when they take on the LA Galaxy on July 23 at the StubHub Center and Liverpool will show off their new kit against Olympiakos at Soldier Field on July 27.
Here’s a look at more pictures from the kit launch (after the jump):

What do you think of these kits? Like the look? Do you plan on purchasing one?

Steven Gerrard has an epic amount of forearm hair…. unless that is part of the kit
the whining around here makes it seem like a scrapbooking convention or grandmas haggling over teacozies
Who’s whining? They are ugly and I delight in insulting them
I think the Liverpool unis are quite cool and stylish. It’s like someone actually thought about it instead of doing paint-by-number.
Wow, Chevy on a soccer shirt. The world sure has changed over the last 50 years…

You would think both of these new sponsors will receive a fair share of heckling from it opponents fans. What with Chevy and GM recalls and the famous Chevy catchphrase also has been ofern linked to missed sitters,,,”Like a rock”..
And lets not forget Monty Python’s hilarious spoof on chartered accountants”
“It’s fun to charter an accountant,
And sail the wide accountan-cy.
To find, explore the funds offshore,
And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy.
It can be manly in insurance.
We’ll up your premium semi-anually.
It’s all tax-deductible,
We’re fairly incorruptible.
We’re sailing on the wide accountan-cy.”
Of course you can bet tour bottom dollar that the lyrics will be altered to reflect other teams feelings towards Liverpool (and Chartered Accountants)
I actually want to buy the man utd kit purely because of thr chevy logo…’Merica!
Good Lord.
I came to read about the weekend in MLS. Ives please come back !!!
That sounds awfully close to whining about soccer in the US, my friend.
It wouldn’t look so gaudy and awful if Chevy logo was white….the full color logo with gold make it stand out so much and it looks hideous.
Not that I would buy a ManU jersey to begin with, but you couldn’t pay me to wear something like that….I’m embarassed for ManU players having to wear something so hideous.
If my MLS team had that gaudy of a jersey sponsor, there’s no way I’d buy it.
I was just thinking this. The Chevrolet logo and name wouldn’t look SO bad if it just fit the color scheme instead of overpowering it.
Fugly. And those collar snaps are terrible.
I know right. Did anyone notice the US players fixing their jersey collars during the WC? What is the point, why even have the collar in the first place. And no one is going to have their jersey buttoned up either, Gerrard looks like he feels awkward.
Besides the fact that they’re combining the sash with hoops, but the sash goes from hip to armpit instead of the shoulder, it looks like it was a mistake. Ultimately someone is in charge of this. Who approved this jersey?
Did Liverpool lose a bet?
LOL!!!! I am in tears!!!! +1
Seriously that’s a great question.
Vauxhall! That’s what I was expecting.
Kit sponsors are why I will never by a club jersey. I’ll be damned if I am going to pay an insane amount of money for shirt and then walk around as a free advertising board for some global corporation. They just make jersey’s look ugly. I know there is prestige with having a kit sponsor and the club makes a lot of money…yada yada yada….but I just don’t like it. National team jersey’s are better if only for the fact that they don’t force fans into walking around with some BS corporation logo on the front of the shirt. And don’t get me started on all the sponsor logos on ligaMX jerseys…. (look like NASCAR).
I always find it odd that English fans care so much about the name of their stadium not being sponsor but are happy to Plaster a logo larger than their team crest on a shirt.
the NFL and NBA are exploring sponsored jerseys…historically, the USA hasnt had them in major sports because of the TV Commericals, which Soccer lacks during gameplay and they supplement sponsorship via Kits and the Ads all round the pitch…
its really only a matter of time…

Hahaha. My laughter to your response is brought to you by capital one bank. Capitol one bank you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank.
awful
Stupid question but does Chevrolet really have that much of a consumer impact in the UK, to be the MU sponsor?
I figured Chevrolet was only popular in the US.
I suspect Chevrolet isn’t sponsoring Manchester United with the goal to sell more cars in the UK. Their goal is to have their logo attached to one of the most marketable teams in the world…which will have a much broader impact.
Chevy sells cars all over the world, not just the US.
…..but not in Europe.
https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/chevy-lands-on-manchester-united-uniforms-%E2%80%94-just-as-it-pulls-out-of-europe-145311548.html
Chevrolet actually pulled out of the European market
Awwwkward.
Not really. The biggest viewer numbers of the EPL are in China. Who are the fastest buyers of cars right now in th e world the Chinese. Makes perfect sense.
They are still selling Corvette and Camaro in Europe
Opel?
This sponsorship is a joke. GM may have closed its Chevy operations in Europe to focus on Opel, but that “focus” includes a controversial closing of the Opel plant in Bochum, Germany, at a cost of USD 866 mn. The closing affects more than 3,000 workers too.
So, it’s a negative IMO.
I think the senior high mucketry muck for GM publicity and advertising already lost his job last year over this whole sponsorship thing. Let’s hope MU does better with that badge than the Cobalt ignition system.
That Chevy logo may actually prevent people from buying Chevy’s. Does not look good.
As a ford truck man it would prevent me from buying the jersey
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, Man U and Chevrolet.
The best kit I’ve seen for next year is Roma’s, the away kit is a thing of beauty. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Br8TJ2BCcAAbM-d.jpg
Those are very nice. Hopefully we see Yedlin in one soon!
Yes indeed.
Eh, not a fan of the collar/button look. I prefer a clean, athletic look. No polo!
These are some of the most hideous jerseys I’ve ever seen.
HA HA!! they’re going to hate the Man U sponsor.
That was better suited to the Moyes season, metaphorically, key slips out of ignition and team loses power, shocking accident results. For the Van Gaal era it’s almost contradictory.
Those Liverpool kits are atrocious. Hoops + Sash is always a terrible decision.
Better than last year’s 3rd kit. This is just just ugly, not ridiculously, absurdly ugly.
I didn’t mind it until I saw the tucked-in version.
For the second year in a row, they will have to “walk alone” with these kits.
