The Vancouver Whitecaps and Chicago Fire have been all too familiar with tying this season, and they both did so again on Wednesday.

The Whitecaps and Fire settled for a scoreless draw at Toyota Park on Wednesday night in a game that saw very few scoring chances. The Fire now lead MLS with 12 ties through 20 matches this year while Vancouver now has 11 in 21.

Vancouver had the best scoring chance four minutes into the second half, but Sean Johnson made a superb kick save to deny Erik Hurtado on a one-on-one opportunity from the right side of the penalty area.

Mike Magee had a decent opportunity to open the scoring earlier in the match, pushing a ninth-minute free kick wide of the right post from 25 yards out.

Chicago returns to action on Saturday with a home game against Eastern Conference foes the Columbus Crew, and the Whitecaps are off until they receive a visit from defending MLS Cup champions Sporting Kansas City on Aug. 10.

What did you think of the Fire and Whitecaps’ scoreless draw? Worried by the two clubs’ inability to win games? Who was your Man of the Match?

  1. For the next Fire game, I’ll wager Magee either fixes his hair or throws his hands up in response to a call by the ref more than he actually touches the ball during the game.

Who wants to take me up on that bet?
