Americans Abroad: Weekend Preview

After enjoying a career year with Bolton Wanderers, Tim Ream has his sights set on playing even better and achieving even more this season.

Trying to accomplish all that begins now.

Bolton Wanderers are set to begin their new season in the Championship with a visit to Watford on Saturday, and Ream’s inclusion in the Trotters’ lineup is all but a given considering his success in 2013-14. The versatile defender will be hoping to help his side pick up three road points in order to get their bid for promotion off to a good start, and possibly enhance his chances of returning to the U.S. Men’s National Team this fall.

Ream is not the only player opening his new season. Alejandro Bedoya will also kick things off over in France, as he and FC Nantes host Lens in their first match of the new Ligue 1 campaign. Bedoya played in his first World Cup earlier this summer, so he should have plenty of confidence as he attempts to build on his solid first season with Nantes.

One of the more intriguing matches will take place in Mexico, where Jose Torres, Herculez Gomez and Tigres welcome America in a battle of undefeated Liga MX clubs. America currently is atop the Apertura table with an impressive 3-0 record, but Tigres will be hoping that their homefield advantage helps them grab the victory that would push them to 2-0-2 on the season.

Here is who the Americans Abroad take on this weekend:
