After four weeks, two clubs are starting to separate themselves from the rest of the Liga MX Apertura table: Club America and Atlas.

Both squads remain undefeated heading into Round 5.  Atlas takes on intra-city rivals Universidad de Guadalajara, with whom they share a stadium, in a huge matchup this Sunday. Atlas picked up a huge 1-0 victory on Saturday at Pumas UNAM, with future Mexico national team member Arturo Gonzalez scoring the game’s only goal.

Universidad on the other hand drew Toluca, 0-0, at home last week but have struggled overall, with no wins this season in three games.

Elsewhere in Liga MX action, high-flying America take on struggling Morelia; Queretaro, with three wins in a row, host Veracruz; Club Tijuana return to the calming shores of Baja California to face Chiapas; and Michael Orozco and Puebla face Herculez Gomez and Jose Torres of Tigres UANL in another highlighted match this weekend.

  1. bummer, Greg Garza out with a broken nose. John Requejo Jr, a US U-20, could fill in though. it’s amazing how many Americans are at Xolos.
