They aren’t related, but Javier Morales and Pedro Morales have a very similar way to impact matches week after week.

The two playmakers were instrumental in helping lead their teams to key victories in MLS Week 22, with Javier setting up a pair of goals in RSL’s 3-0 thumping of D.C. United, and Morales providing his own magic, setting up a key goal in Vancouver’s 2-0 win vs. Sporting Kansas City.

Nick Rimando didn’t make a ton of highlight reel saves on Monday, but the RSL goalkeeper grabbed an SBI MLS Best XI nod after setting the MLS career record for shutouts. He was his usual steady self in goal vs. D.C., where he and Chris Schuler helped contain D.C. United’s attack.

Here is how the rest of the SBI MLS Best XI shook out for Week 22:

  1. Gilberto was excellent for TFC this weekend in Columbus. His off ball movement and physical toughness (he was clocked by the Crew keeper a few minutes into the game) plus the fact that he coming into his own with goals makes him someone people should keep an eye on.
