After a rough few months in the heart of the MLS season, FC Dallas soared through August, thanks to the electrifying play of winger Fabian Castillo.

The Colombian youngster tore through opposing defenses and in five starts in August, scored four goals and added two assists, as FC Dallas went 4-1-0 in that stretch. Castillo’s performances made him our choice for SBI MLS Player of the Month.

Castillo’s best performance came in a 5-0 rout on the road at the San Jose Earthquakes. The 21-year-old scored two goals and added an assist in just 77 minutes of play.

Castillo beat out Landon Donovan and Luis Silva for this month’s honors.

  1. I’m so glad that Fab is finally turning that breakneck speed into goals/assists. His close control and finishing are so much better now than when he first joined the team, if his rate of improvement keeps growing he’ll be sure to be on the radar of many European (and possibly South American) clubs.

    • True, I think Keane being around makes London’s job a bit easier.

2 stars will win more games but just 1 is more likely to win personal awards. Magee comes to mind there.
