Manchester United’s ever expanding spending spree included two more additions on transfer deadline day.

The biggest signing of the day was the clinching of Radamel Falcao to Old Trafford, arriving from AS Monaco on a season-long loan. Falcao’s signing went right down to the wire, with Manchester United securing the Colombian striker’s services just before the deadline.

Earlier in the day, Manchester United did bring in a defensive reinforcement with the £14 million signing of Daley Blind from Ajax Amsterdam. Blind starred at the 2014 World Cup with the Netherlands, playing for current Man United head coach Louis Van Gaal, and brings with him versatility to play as a left wing back, center back, and even holding midfielder.

“It is a real honor to sign for Manchester United,” Blind said in a statement. “I have been at Ajax since I was seven years old and I will always have very fond memories of the club and of my time there. Louis van Gaal is a tremendously talented coach, I have worked with him at Ajax and also for the Netherlands national team and I cannot wait to work with him at the biggest club in the world.”

WELBECK MOVES TO ARSENAL

Arsenal have found some cover for injured center forward Olivier Giroud.

The North London side made a late bid on deadline day, reportedly worth £16 million, and have completed the signing of Man United forward Danny Welbeck right from under the noses of arch rivals Tottenham.

Welbeck was already on Arsenal’s London Colney training ground with the England National Team and was able to easily conduct a medical on site and then sign personal terms.

Welbeck found himself surplus to requirements as a forward and was playing with Man United mostly on the wing. With Giroud’s injury, Welbeck can step right into a center forward position in the club’s next game against Manchester City.

MAN CITY SELL NEGREDO TO VALENCIA

Alvaro Negredo’s one-year experiment at Manchester City is over.

The English champions offloaded the Spaniard to Valencia on a season-long loan with the transfer becoming permanent in July 2015 for a fee of €30 million.

Negredo began the year in good form, with two goals in August and nine English Premier League goals by mid-January. However, his form began to dip midway through the year and he fell in the depth chart, eventually losing his place not only for club but also for the Spanish National Team.

HULL CITY ADD IMPRESSIVE QUARTET ON DEADLINE DAY

While Manchester United was making headlines for their big-money signings, another English team that enjoyed a very successful deadline day is Hull City, which added a strong quartet of players.

Hull set a new club record for largest transfer with the acquistion of Abel Hernandez from Palermo for a club record £10 million. The Tigers also added skilled midfielders Hatem Ben Arfa and Gaston Ramirez via loan. Hull’s four-player haul also featured the addition of central midfielder Mohamed Diame from West Ham.
