The Summer transfer window closed on Monday evening after a wild day of transfers (and even more loans) and the Labor Day action headlines the latest episode of The SBI Show.

Episode 162 kicks off with a look at some of the bigger moves in the transfer window, such as Radamel Falcao’s move to Manchester United, Danny Welbeck’s move to Arsenal, and Javier Hernandez’s move to Real Madrid. We also discuss Julian Green’s loan to Hamburg, the only significant move on deadline day involving an American.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss the U.S. Men’s National Team’s upcoming match against the Czech Republic, as well as the announced friendly against Honduras in October. We also talk MLS, and dig into Ryan Nelsen’s recent firing at Toronto FC, as well as looking back at the results of MLS Week 25.

  1. No mention of Scarfgate…

I know you are holding back the results because I’ve lost, and you don’t want to spiritually and psychologically destroy your biggest fan. No worries.

I swear to you, my friend, I only want to know the outcome, so that I may congratulate the victor, and politely demand them to name their first child after me.

  2. Did anyone else laugh hard, when at like 127m in, Garrett opined a funny title for Ives’ self help book, and Ives shut him down, and Garret replied, uncertainly, that he’s pretty good at coming up for title’s of stuff? I thought it was really good improv by the G-Man, to hark back to his last big joke earlier in the episode, when he offers a title for the Yedlin-Donovan possible send-off game:
“Two players, going in opposite directions: The past meets the future.”

  3. Ream and Brooks are both better on the left side, so I doubt we see them start together. Unless we start Ream at LB over FabJo/Chandler, we are probably going to have Ream coming off the bench in the second half, with Orozco getting a long look at RCB.

I’d love to get Wood and Jozy starting up top, with Jozy getting subbed to start the second. However, our first choice formations lead me to believe this wish has a very low probability of coming true.

My girl A-Ro was a beast in that championship game, which I was fortunate enough to watch. Her performance needs more props. Anyway, I think KC also is home to the last National Indoor Soccer League Champion, as well.

  4. dude, spot on Ives about her saying she’s okay with it. you never want to hear the words, “it’s fine” or “i’m fine”. as made famous in many places:

FINE = Freaked-out, insecure, neurotic and emotional
