There’s no question the LA Galaxy are currently the hottest team in MLS, and their performance on Sunday evening was a perfect example why.

The Galaxy dominated in all facets of their match against Chivas USA, routing their lowly neighbors, 3-0, behind a pair of special goals that will certainly be up for Goal of the Year nominations. The Galaxy’s impressive performance made them an easy choice for SBI MLS TeamĀ of the Week.

The Galaxy, who have won four straight while scoring 13 goals in that stretch, beat out the Houston Dynamo, Chicago Fire, and Portland Timbers for this week’s honors.

  1. So LD now needs 6 more assists with 9 games remaining to tie the all-time record. I think Zardas’s second goal was a beneficiary of that math.

    • Don’t think so. Donovan has long-since said that he decides whether to pass or shoot based on whether he or his teammate has the better percentage shot. In this case, Donovan would have had to beat the keeper in order to score while Zardes had a wide open net and could score with just a tap-in. To an unselfish player like Donovan the pass was the obvious choice.

  2. The Galaxy look really good, loose, relaxed and confident they will be the team to beat for MLS Cup. I loved seeing Bruce Arena bowing to Robbie Keane after his goal. Like A who knew Bruce could show emotion. 2 what a great tip of the hat to classic goal scorer.

  3. Beating Chivas should never qualify a team for TOTW honors. You would have done better to highlight the DC United match earlier in the week and throw in the 3-0 route of Chivas as a little bonus.

      • That was exactly my point. The article does not even mention the game against United. It was all about the performance on Sunday against one of the worst teams in MLS.
