  1. In defense of junior, he did have a nice save on a rocket earlier in the game. From the angle, its tough to tell if it was well placed, but a solid save either way. As others have pointed out, he did not play that angle very intelligently on his card, but hopefully a learning moment.

Easier for me to forgive the kid’s mis-cues on the field.

Still debating whether mocking and taking pleasure in my boy being cut is forgivable. I take offense to some sheltered little prince from the oc disrespecting like that.

    • +1. Trashing Lil’ Jonny is a popular sport around here, but all of this “we’re set at GK, who cares?” talk that floats around is really quite odd. Fact is, we are not at all set at GK beyond Guzan, who isn’t exactly young. A promising young GK should always be a welcome sight.

Yeah the kid made a big mess of the Donovan thing…. but my word c’mon has anybody here not exercised mortifyingly bad judgement at that age? In the realm of horrible decision making, a misguided tweet from a high school teenager is orders of magnitude lower than a 23-year Charlie Davies piling in the car with a bunch of drunk people for a deathride.

      • 1. There are a dozen young GKs who are more highly regarded than Klinsy junior, from Hamid to Steffen to Silva. We don’t need him.

        2. Where are all the people who were complaining about nepotism when Michael Bradley was getting called in to the national team while setting the Yanks Abroad goal scoring record at Herenveen and then being one of the better players for Munchengladbach?

        3. Why is this guy in college? Shouldn’t he be getting out of his comfort zone and testing himself at some professional club in Europe? After the 2010 World Cup Klinsy said the problem with soccer in America was that it was primarily a way for kids to get college scholarships… and now his son has one at Cal.

        4. The kid is a spoiled brat, talk about bad parenting….

      • Really man. You dont know the kid at all. You read what he tweeted one day in high school. He was probably trying to impress his friends, or have his dad’s back, etc.. We dont even know why he did it. Unless you next door to the Klinsy’s you dont know this kid. Attack the decison to cut LD all you want. But really be the mature adult and quit bashing teenagers.

      • 1) Until we are producing a Messi and Buffon every year we need all the youth players we can get.

        2) Do you know Klinsmann personally? Who are you to comment on bad parenting? Is his kid on hard drugs robbing people? No he’s an American kid who’s going to college and playing a sport and represent his country in that sport if thats bad parenting then I don’t know what good parenting is.

        3) Klinsmann gets a bad rap because of LD but people need to get over that and look at the good he’s done. We have structure and a pool deeper than ever in the national team. He doesn’t shy way from the though arguments like the coaches before him. Stop projecting your views of Klinnsy on his son. If he’s anything like most teenage kids he’ll make more little mistakes this better now than later. I’m sure you’ve said some stupid things in your youth that you wish you could take back.

      • I am not sure how”deep” our pool really is. the youth teams have not done well in the last four years. that is the biggest problem in US Soccer. Right now, we are only a few injuries away from not making it to the next world cup.

  2. Pineda’s volley was sweet. outside-the-box volleys are the most satisfying goals to score.

Young Klins, that was a terrible challenge. way to get a red in stoppage time…….. next time, stay on your line, there were 2 defenders near and btw you were up 2 goals. no need to come off your line. good thing you’ll never make it to the Sr team

    • That was a terrible challenge. A defender was going to get back as that ball was going really wide.

The game seemed rather 1 sided… or maybe neither team did much. It was pretty much decided by not great goal keeping.
