I remember the year after Ronaldo left United (2008, I believe), Nani was unstoppable in England. It really looked like he might live up to the billing. It still puzzles me quickly he faded.
It appeared to an issue of ego not matching ability. He started believing he was the next Ronaldo and became more selfish and questionable in his play/decision making.
It was pretty visible even his teammates gave up on him, too.
Against the team of American GK as well.
Looked like he cried after the goal. Why? It was so beautiful it brought him to tears? 😉
as a Man U fan I’m glad he’s doing better. but I still don’t want him back at the club. 99/100 times he makes the wrong decision.
