Facing off with the in-f0rm LA Galaxy, it was hard to pick a way in which the Houston Dynamo would be the better team in Saturday’s matchup. But then they were, in every single way.

The Dynamo put together a complete and commanding performance, throttling the Galaxy, 3-0, Saturday to earn recognition as SBI MLS Team of the Week.

Riding a five-goal performance against the San Jose Earthquakes, the Galaxy did nothing of the sort Saturday, finding themselves down a goal in just the ninth minute due to a Will Bruin strike. Finishes from Brad Davis and Lionel Miranda followed, putting an exclamation point on a statement win for the Dynamo.

The victory, which saw the debut of Erick ‘Cubo’ Torres, helped vault the Dynamo back into playoff contention while also earning the team honors as SBI MLS Team of the Week, beating out FC Dallas, Real Salt Lake and the Vancouver Whitecaps for this week’s honors.

What did you think of the Dynamo’s performance? Which team stood out to you this past weekend?

  1. What a nice, timely win! I can see coyle’s approach showing slowly, but with inconsistent results I don’t see the Dynamo in the playoffs. Hopefully some of the older players retire and make way for some new signings or improvements.
