Fresh off the U.S. Women’s National Team’s exciting run to hoist their third World Cup, U.S. Soccer announced two more matches for their victory tour, pitting the USWNT against Brazil twice in October.

The U.S. will face Brazil at CenturyLink Field in Seattle on Wednesday, Oct. 21 before switching coasts for the latter game of the series at the Orlando Citrus Bowl in Orlando Sunday, Oct. 25.

The games are the fifth and sixth friendlies announced as part of the 2015 Women’s World Cup champions’ 10-match tour to celebrate their triumph in Canada.

The Americans’ victory tour kicks off with two games against Costa Rica in August and two games against World Cup quarterfinalists Australia in September.

What do you expect from the two friendlies? What kind of team do you expect head coach Jill Ellis to call in?

  1. I think these fixtures are a nice way to keep up awareness of women’s soccer and keep up the momentum from the WWC. However, what’s an even better idea is supporting the domestic women’s league by not playing these pointless exhibitions in the final weeks of the competitive season. If teams fighting for playoff position need to release their top players (and you can bet they will) it only further undermines what has been an unfortunate season for NWSL. It actually speaks volumes about the growth of women’s soccer and the success of NWSL that they remain viable in the face of such shortsighted stupidity from US Soccer.

    • To clarify, I have no problem with these new matches, as they will take place after the NWSL season concludes. I’m referring to the previously scheduled games.
