SBI College Soccer Top 25 (Sept. 11 Edition)

_RS18985

The curse of the No. 1 spot in the SBI College Soccer Top 25 continued on with UCLA following Georgetown as top-ranked teams to suffer defeats after reaching the top spot.

This time, it was Georgetown doing the honors, handing the Bruins one of two defeats suffered last weekend. Both the Hoyas and Bruins are still among the most talented teams in the country, and both should be there in the end at the NCAA Tournament, but their starts to the season have been ugly.

Notre Dame will look to buck the trend of top teams falling, as the Fighting Irish take their unbeaten record into a tough pair of matchups against Clemson and Xavier.

Creighton is knocking on the door of No. 1, boasting a perfect record and an impressive blowout win over UC-Irvine. The Blue Jays take on Michigan State in one of the better matches of the weekend.

The new rankings feature several teams making their debuts in the Top 25. American University, Omaha and Hofstra are among the teams to be ranked for the first time this season.

Here is a look at the SBI College Soccer Top 25 for Sept. 11th:

  1. How is Denver not even an Honorable Mention? They’re 3-0-1, ranked #19 in the NSCAA poll, #20 in College Soccer News, tied UC Santa Barbara when UCSB was ranked #19 and beat San Diego when USD was ranked #17 in one poll and Receiving Votes in another poll. Hmmmmm…
