The race for first place in the English Premier League is in full swing heading toward New Year’s Day, and today’s marquee match should go a long way toward determining who holds the top spot to start 2016.
Leicester City has topped the league in recent weeks, thanks to superb performances from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, but as of Tuesday, the Foxes sits in second. Arsenal climbed into the pole position on Monday, but with a win against Manchester City (2:45 p.m., NBCSN), Leicester City will once again take charge.
Man City rolls into King Power Stadium with a fit Sergio Aguero, though, and Yaya Toure has been in good form recently. Add to that the fact that Leicester City lost its last game, and the Citizens should feel good about their chances to upset the high-flying Foxes on Tuesday.
With a win, Man City can tie Leicester on points with 38 — one behind Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Leeds United and Derby County battle it out in the English Championship (2:45 p.m., beIN Sports USA), with the latter hoping to surge into first place on the English table.
