The MLS offseason is barreling toward the new year and teams have wasted no time revamping rosters and getting things geared up for 2016.

Episode 247 of The SBI Show takes a look at the busy month of transactions, including Toronto FC’s acquisitions of Will Johnson, Steve Beitashour and Drew Moor.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss Abby Wambach’s recent controversial comments about the U.S. Men’s National Team, which caused a stir because of her questioning whether the USMNT has too many foreign-born and foreign-raised players on the team.

We also catch up on the college soccer scene, NASL and the international soccer news of the day.

  1. the thing is that they are NOT putting their careers on the line for the US, Johnson refused to end the game against Mexico to protect his career, Timmy Chandler refused to go play with the US giving awful excuses, Green only accepted to change sides once he was offered a spot in the World Cup, AJ is and icelander that got “lucky” with his passport.

Honestly I would rather see my team loose with 11 american bornand raised player on the field that win with a lineup of mercenaries.

  2. Thanks again for the show, guys.

Just a little bit harsh on Toronto. I agree that better was expected of them considering the money spent, but they were very much a legit contender for the top seed in the east with a month left in the season. That’s not even to mention that they FINALLY made the playoffs, which was the top priority, at least from the casual observer.

I hope all of you have a fantastic holiday with your friends and families!

  3. Not sure it is really a national team if half the players on the roster aren’t eligible to vote in the country they are playing for.
