A familiar face to MLS fans has been forced to depart a head coaching role, while a Mexican star is set to miss time due to injury.

Former Columbus Crew starĀ Guillermo Barros Schelotto has been forced to leave his managerial position at Palermo after he failed to gain the necessary coaching licenses. Schelotto was appointed to the position in January, but was denied an exemption to coach the team despite his lack of credentials. (REPORT)

  1. Tough deal for Schelotto. Sounds like he was trying to get the certification out of the way. According to Wiki:

    Due to bureaucratic issues related to his appointment as head coach, however, Palermo was forced a few days later to hire Giovanni Tedesco, who already had the required coaching badges, as new “official” head coach, with Schelotto working alongside him and sitting on the bench during league games as “team manager”.[9] On 10 February 2016, Palermo confirmed Schelotto’s resignation from his role at the club after UEFA refused to hand him a coaching badge.

    Wish I knew more about that process because I find it odd a club in Italian top flight would hire him without certainty he’d be able to acquire the necessary training for the position after appointed.
