  1. So many negative comments, as usual; here. I think the US tried to force the ball through the middle much too much and had their best chances when the used the wings. Canada ended up packing it in the middle in the second half, which the US totally dominated. The winning goal was only what was deserved. All considered, I thought the US effort, especially in the second half, was pretty decent. don’t think the US goalie had to really work at all.

  2. Too many Chicken Little’s on here.

I’ve never been one to hold back criticism about our players and coaches, but nobody really did themselves poorly in this match. A few mistakes but nothing blatantly and consistently bad from anyone. I think Canada is on the rise. Sure, our attacking players had a lot of bad touches, but I don’t think we need to compare our players to the best players in the world. Nobody we bring in is going to make us play like Barca. I think our forwards had good movement all night, that our midfield covered each other well, and that our defense stood the test.

I don’t think enough of us understand exactly who Jozy is, judging from the comments. He’s a physical forward, but he doesn’t post up defenders, he nudges them and tries to spin off to create. He shouldn’t be expected to always have a great touch or work rate, because his game is physical, but he also gets a lot of free kicks from the fact that he defends his space against CBs and then turns or passes quickly when receiving.

  3. This match had me banging my head against the back of my chair. OMFG how many clear chances does Altidore need to bury one. Overall poor performance from most of the players tonight even Bradley. Hopefully Bobby Wood can save our asses in Qualifying.

  4. If a ref calls advantage at the edge of the box and we then immediately take a shot, does that eliminate the advantage? I ask because Lee drew an advantage from about 4 yards outside the box and we continued to keep possession and play the ball wide.

Nobody really stood out for me in the first half. Though I like how smartly Jones gets forward as a stopper, and Bradley has been covering him nicely. I think Birnbaum hasn’t done much to make the right side dynamic going forward, and the Lee has been pretty passive. I’d like to see Jerome come in for him and switch sides with Zardes. I’d like to see Trapp or Kitchen, but they don’t really seem to have a role considering how we’re playing right now, with a stopper/sweeper, with Bradley and Mix in front of them.

The game didn’t really settle down until the 30th minute, but I don’t know why this announcing crew keeps talking about momentum. It’s been pretty even to me so far.

  5. Lalas just said Zardes was the best player in the 1st half. How am I the one that’s on the couch and he’s a sports analyst?

  6. Too many long passes by the US the first half hour. Canada seems to pass better. And yet the US had more chances than Canada and about 3 shots on goal. Don’t think Canada had any.

  7. The was honestly a step backwards, movement and possession was so much better against Iceland. Morris , Zardes and Altidore all play so direct looking to run in behind.

  8. If Altidore and zardes is the best US has to offer as forward options, the future is bleak. And that ain’t Klinsi ‘ s fault. Those 2 have severe technical and tactical limitations as footballers…

  9. Full house, place is rocking, what an atmosphere at the stub hub center…NOT.

Why do they keep playing national team games at this awful place where Noone cares. There are at least 10 cities at venues that would have pulled at least 20K for the game tonight.
Another epic scheduling fail, but what else is new…

  10. Jones at cb better be a stopgap. Otherwise im not sure why we even schedule friendlies. They have no influence on the starting eleven. And they def dont build chemistry
