Soccer action will be scarce this weekend due to international break, but the competition on the ledger will nevertheless provide some importance and entertainment for fans.

With World Cup, Africa Cup of Nations and Olympics qualifying all taking place this weekend, the marquee match — apart from the U.S. — will be one featuring Brazil and Uruguay in CONMEBOL qualifying.

Uruguay currently sits in second place in the CONMEBOL standings and three points behind Ecuador, while Brazil trails two points behind in third. Both sides are coming off respective 3-0 victories on Matchday 4 back in November, with La Celeste defeating Chile and the Seleção getting past Peru.

Other notable international matches this weekend include friendlies between Netherlands and France, Germany and England and Portugal and Bulgaria on Saturday, and then Romania and Spain on Sunday.

On the domestic side, while the U.S. Men’s National Team and the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team square off against Guatemala and Colombia, respectively, the MLS season continues with three matches on Friday, beginning with a matinee pitting New York City FC against New England Revolution.
