Heading into the second month of MLS play, only one team has earned maximum points to start the season. That team is Sporting Kansas City.

With three wins in as many games, Sporting KC has collected all nine points while surging to the top of the standings, earning the club recognition as March’s SBI MLS Team of the Month.

Sporting KC’s run has seen the club take down three legitimate playoff contenders despite the absence of 2015 MVP nominee Benny Feilhaber. It began with a narrow 1-0 defeat of the 10-man Seattle Sounders on the road. A home victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps soon followed, as Dom Dwyer’s brace led the team to yet another win. Sporting KC finally put a stamp on an outstanding month with a 1-0 defeat of Toronto FC on a goal from offseason signing Brad Davis.

Overall, it was an ideal month for Peter Vermes’ side, who beat out the Montreal Impact, Philadelphia Union and FC Dallas for March’s honors.

What do you think of Sporting KC’s performances throughout March? Which team stood out to you throughout the first few weeks of MLS action?
