Cody Cropper set to be released by MK Dons

Cody Cropper’s run with MK Dons is coming to an end.

The English club announced on Wednesday that MK Dons has opted not to renew the goalkeeper’s contract. The decision will make Cropper a free agent once his current deal expires in June.

The U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team goalkeeper made 12 appearances for the club this past season after joining from Southampton as a free agent last summer. During his run of games, Cropper failed to maintain a clean sheet while his club sealed relegation from the Championship to League One.

The news comes just one day after MK Dons announced a new deal for fellow goalkeeper Charlie Burns.

Earlier this year, Cropper told Northern Pitch that he would be interested in a move to MLS with either Minnesota United or Atlanta United. Neither team is set to play until 2017 at the earliest, and Cropper will head into the summer in search of a new club.

What do you think of Cropper’s release? Where do you expect him to go? What clubs would serve as the right fit for the young goalkeeper?
