Pitbull went from Mr. 305 to Mr. Worldwide. He might soon have to be Mr. Soccer.

It was announced on Thursday that rapper Pitbull has teamed up with a fellow recording artist in Becky G to produce “Superstars”, the official song for the upcoming Copa America Centenario. The track will be performed live for the first time before the Copa America Centenario final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on June 26.

The tournament, which is a special one-off edition to celebrate the Copa America’s 100th anniversary, begins on June 3.

“Superstars” is the second soccer-inspired tune Pitbull has done for a major international tournament after teaming up with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leite for the 2014 FIFA World Cup anthem, “We Are One (Ole Ola)”.

While Pitbull is no stranger to the soccer scene, Becky G also has her apparent ties to the beautiful game. She is reportedly currently dating LA Galaxy midfielder Sebastian Lletget.

  1. Copa America will be a commercial failure and that’s so disappointing. It could have been a huge tournament attracting so many new fans, but they did no advertising and marketing for it.

It’s a joke how poorly they handled this whole thing

  2. Ah Pitbull… The Latino Nickleback.

Waving Flag (Celebration Mix) should be the permanent theme song for all international sporting event.

    • You are out of touch if you are comparing Pitbull to Nickelback. Whether you like his music or not, Pitbull is on a whole ‘nother level, an actual star, and in two different cultures/languages.
